I just want to say that JC Penney is one of the crappiest employers I have come across in a long time. Thinking about working for them? Give it a lot more thought before you apply. I don't really know if all the stores are the same or if it is just this one but it is run by a bunch of idiots. My daughter works for them and is dying to quit. I am getting so fed up, I'm about ready to go up there and kick someone's ass but it isn't my place to do so. Having a hard time with that.
When they offered her the job, they promised a 25 cent raise after 30 days. They promised the same thing to another girl hired around the same time. These promises were made by some manager named Veronica. Yes... I'm naming names here today.
Well... 30 days has come and gone. No raise. Daughter went and asked her about it. She said she never said anything about a raise. Daughter checked with the other new girl again. Yes she DID say something about the raise! They went to the store manager. He said, "No... it is after 90 days. I will talk to her about it."
I'm sorry, that is NOT good enough! Technically, isn't that a contract? They offered the job with a 25 cent raise at thirty days. The girls accepted. It was a done deal. Now they are refusing to give the raises. I don't see how they can do that!
And that is just one of many crappy things going on with them. There is just soooooo much more. The supervisor has put herself on my list of people to beat the crap out of. She better hope Daughter never introduces me to her. We're gonna have a little chat if she does! And I just happen to need to go up there this weekend to use a gift card I received. Wouldn't it be interesting if Miss Bitch was there? Yeah, it would cost daughter her job but she really doesn't care at this point.
So... personally, I would LOVE to hire a lawyer and threaten the crap out of the store but that costs money that I don't have and I don't know if it would accomplish anything or not but I'm pissed and sick and tired of idiots that don't know how to treat employees with respect. I've worked in retail for far too many years (thank God those days are over) and I have dealt with enough garbage from employers. Just because it is retail and these are young adults does NOT mean you can treat them like dirt! A-holes!
Seems like days off are few and far between. Makes for a really long week. :(
Today I have to go run a few errands. One of which is to get a new computer chair. This thing is falling apart in the worst way. I can't take it anymore!
I was just reading about Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother being found shot to death. And her seven year old nephew is missing. They caught the scum that did this but he isn't cooperating with the police so they don't have any information at this time. I just hope they find the boy soon and I hope he's still alive. I'm so worried about him. I can't even imagine what Jennifer is going through right now. My heart goes out to her though.
It is just one more reminder for me about my cousin. He lived in Chicago and was murdered in his home. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about him and what happened. It isn't something I can let go of. I don't talk about it... I just keep it all to myself but I feel it all the time.
This season of Dancing with the Stars has been full of injuries. What on earth is going on there! Let's see...
Jeffrey Ross scratches his cornea.
Karina Smirnoff sprains her ankle.
Misty May-Treanor tears her ACL.
Brooke Burke hurts her ankle.
Susan Lucci fractures her ankle.
Derek Hough has a bad fall and blacks out.
And now Julianne Hough was reportedly sent to the hospital after collapsing from severe stomach pains.
I love her to pieces. I sure hope she's ok!
I have to hand it to the City of Belleville. They approved age restrictions for trick or treating. The new ordinance states that only those 12 and under may trick or treat (does not apply to special needs individuals). And trick or treating is only during the hours of 5pm-8:30pm. In addition, the ordinance prohibits anyone over the age of 12 from wearing a mask. Police officers will be handling violators with a warn and release method.
Good for them!! I knew some people might be annoyed by this sort of thing but frankly, I am sick and tired of 16-18 year olds knocking on my door expecting handfuls of candy and being down right obnoxious about it.
In addition, I don't like seeing adults or older teens running around the streets in masks because there are too many freaks out there and you just don't know who is safe and who isn't.
So good for them for putting this in place. I think all cities should!
Thanks to my good friend for the happy birthday wishes!! Yep, today's my birthday. I'm the big 3-8 today. Feels weird for some reason. Not sure why. LOL
E got me a new kitchen knife set which is desperately needed and the Hell's Kitchen game for the Wii. Looking forward to playing that later! I love Chef Ramsay. :D
Not much happening today. Gotta get to work... running a bit late this morning. Just don't feel like going in. Maybe if I get done early, I will ask if I can take off early. Worst they can say is no, right?
We celebrated October birthdays at work the other day. It was just a little thing... not really a party or anything. They brought in a few pies and we had pie with ice cream. I had a slice of caramel apple pie. My new favorite! Yum-o!!
Tomorrow we are going out to a Japanese restaurant where you sit at the grill and they cook the food with a big elaborate show. Should be fun. Never done that before.
Oh yes. Today should be just a dandy day at work. I am in the most foul mood right now. God help the next person that crosses me. I can't promise how much self control I'm going to have.
First, I was ticked off... and am still a little... at E. She got off early yesterday and wanted to meet a friend at the big mall. They were going to see a movie I guess. Well, in order for that to happen, husband had to drive her there around 4pm yesterday, come pick me up at work with is about a half hour in the opposite direction not accounting for bad traffic which is normally present at that time of day, and then someone has to pick her up.
I asked how long the movie was. Didn't know. Said the first movie in the series was 70 minutes but didn't know about this one. Ok... how many movies do you know of that are only 70 minutes? Yeah... not many. Anyways, I had no clue what the name of the movie was or when she would be ready to come home. I was pissed off. I was at work so I didn't have time to talk. She told me the movie started at 7-something so I decided to go up there around 8pm and just wait. That mall is about 20 minutes away from the house. Well, I waited, and waited, and waited... and then she finally called me around 10pm. I was LIVID! I hadn't eaten dinner, I needed to take a bath, and I needed to be in bed because I was unbelievably tired. But instead, I am waiting in a parking lot all night. And H was with me griping her little head off as well. Yeah, fun times.
This morning, she isn't talking. I asked her what was wrong and she says "nothing." I ask why she's so quiet then. She says, "Just am." Okay... nice talking to you.
That is more than enough for me this morning. But wait... it gets better. Doesn't it always?
While driving E to work earlier this morning, there is pretty much no traffic... just random cars here and there. Well, I'm driving along, going the speed limit, when this jackass in the next lane just barely passes me and cuts over into my lane with no signal. When I say barely, I mean if I hadn't been paying attention, he would have clipped the front of my van when he came over. Oooh I was pissed. There were NO CARS AROUND US AT ALL. There was NO REASON FOR THAT.
So I was pretty pissed off from that point on. But wait... it gets even better. You knew it would, right?
I'm driving home from dropping E off at work. I'm in the left hand lane and approaching an intersection... light green. There is a car in the right hand lane who starts slowing down and appears to be turning. Ok... that's fine by me. Except the ass decides to come into my lane to make a wide right turn. This idiot was driving a tiny little car. There is no need for that. But if I hadn't slammed on the brakes, I would have been in an accident. I was hostile enough at that point to follow him/her and beat the living daylights out of them. I kind of wish I had... not that it would have accomplished anything except personal satisfaction.
So needless to say, I am a bit grumpy right now and am liable to murder someone today if things don't improve. It is a damn good thing that my one co-worker is off today. She would no doubt be carrying on and on about the debate last night and I am in no mood for that nonsense. I know who I'll vote for... if I get around to it. I will not tolerate anyone hounding me about it and I don't care to sit there in the office and listen to these heated discussions about it all.
This woman I work with... an elderly woman... is just driving me up a wall. She has such an attitude about things and I just want to strangle her some days so that she will shut up!
The big thing right now is the presidential election. She is extremely passionate about this and that's fine... we all have our things we are passionate about. But for God sake, do not force your opinions down my throat, lady! She is constantly making sure everyone is registered to vote. If you say know, she will shove a registration form in your face. And heaven FORBID you say you aren't watching the debates... or worse yet, don't plan to vote. OMG she literally explodes right there in her chair! One of the older guys at work said he doesn't watch the debates and stuff and wasn't planning on voting. Which is entirely his right! It is your right TO vote and it is your right NOT to vote. Well, she went nuts and I ended up backing him up and said that while I will probably vote, I have no desire to watch the debates because they are all full of hooey anyway. You have to take every single word with a grain of salt because once someone is elected, most of what was promised goes right out the window.
Speaking of which, I need to find where my voting place is. I know the name of the place but I don't know where it is. LOL
If you were stranded on an island, what five books would you bring?
submitted by CJP
Well, at this point in time, I would have to say I would bring 5 Charlaine Harris vampire novels. Or possibly a few Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Hunter novels. :)
