I went to the grocery store. We go to Dierbergs (local chain) because they have the highest standards as far as customer service here. Everyone makes a point to say hello to you. They aren't the cheapest but definitely the best place to shop here. So we go about our shopping and head to the registers. There are four lanes open. Three cashiers at the other end are out in front of their register lanes waiting. Then there were two guys at lane 15 who were apparently shooting the breeze back behind the register. I really didn't concern myself with it at first... just took notice of it. I went to their lane because it was the first one I came to and closest to the door that I would be going out. The cashier never said hello, never looked up when he flipped on the belt... never stopped his conversation with the bagger. And the bagger never asked me what kind of bags I wanted... which they are ALWAYS supposed to do. I also noticed that the belt was dirty as I was putting things up there. I was pretty irritated.
As I finished unloading, I walked over to the counter to watch the prices and pay... assuming he would say hello when I was in front of him. Nope... not a word. Didn't say a word to me until he muttered the total of the sale. AND the damn bagger pushed the cart back into me as he was putting bags in the cart.
I was really ticked at that point and told the girls that when we are done here, we are going over to talk to a manager. I did and the manager laid into the guys as I was walking out the door.
I always take notice of these things with cashiers because I was one for a good 15 years. I know the proper etiquette and that sure as hell wasn't it! I don't normally go to the trouble to complain but this just really set me off. Three cashiers were out there waiting to help someone and these idiots were too busy goofing off. I wasn't going to just let that go. I spend far too much time and money there to tolerate that.
And then, on my way home, I turn onto the road that takes me to my street and this ass comes flying up behind me, swerves around and drives down the center turn lane to pass me. I was going 35 which happens to be the speed limit. I tailed him til I got to my road and he was going 60!! W. T. F!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So yeah... I'm a little ticked off with people today.
I'm driving home in the dark, on my way to go get Oldest. My car died in the middle of the road. I was going up a hill and all of the sudden, it wouldn't drive forward anymore. It is our only car so Aaron couldn't get me or Erin. Erin was able to take a cab home but I had no cash on me so that was a problem. My dad is in Mexico. I called the police department. No one showed up. Some guy stopped and towed me by chain into a nearby lot. Thank God for him. I called the police back and they said that since I'm not blocking the road, there's nothing they can do. So I was left to freeze to death out in the middle of a dark parking lot. Great. Thank you so much.
I called my aunt that is like 45 minutes away and they came and got me. My car is still out there and there isn't much I can do til tomorrow. We just took that damn thing into the shop YESTERDAY! So yeah... I'm going to be doing some major screaming tomorrow. And if I get a ticket for parking my car where it is right now... the police department is going to be screamed at as well! Maybe if they could have f-ing HELPED ME... But no.
OMG I am just so insane right now. Freakin' scared, freezing to death (I can barely feel my fingers and cannot feel my toes on my right foot right now)
Yes, thank you so much St. Charles Police. Thank you for leaving me helpless out there, freezing, scared, and at the time, NO WAY TO GET HOME. Nothing you can do. Bull SHIT!
Two of my favorite clips from Who's Line is it Anyway...
The bad...
My computer is broken. Something to do with a video driver. Don't really know much. It is going in this morning for someone to look at it. My dad is taking it to a tech at his workplace. He will fix it for a lot less than anyone else I could take it to. Assuming he can fix it at all. So I will be without my computer for at least two days if not a lot longer. Don't know... won't know til at least Tuesday.
For now, I am on an old computer of ours that doesn't work all that well but it works well enough to get online. Better than having to drag myself to the library every time I need to get online.
The good...
I am working out like never before. I'm not doing anything really fancy. I'm using the Wii Fit and loving it sooooo much. I did a half hour's worth on Saturday and an hour yesterday!! I will try to do at least a half hour every day. I don't know if I will be able to since I don't have much time during the week but I will at least try.
I am enjoying some of the yoga poses, balancing games and definitely the aerobic ones. I can't wait to step back on today. There are a couple of balancing games that I just HAVE to get better at. Its like a mission now. LOL There is one where you are in a bubble, floating down a river and you have to guide yourself along by leaning in different directions to keep from hitting the cliffs or other objects. I get just about to the end when I bump something and fail. ARGH!! I WILL beat that thing today!!!! :D
I was at work and had to keep getting up to take care of something. At one point I sat down and realized my pen was gone. Its hard to miss. Its a big, fat purple pen with a black rubber grip. LOVE IT. Anyway... I got up and re-traced my steps. No pen. I was frustrated. I grabbed another pen out of my bag and went back to work, hoping someone would find it. It isn't an expensive pen. In fact, it was free. I got it when I went to orientation at my last job. But I love the pen.
So... the day goes on. I keep looking. No pen. Several hours go by. No pen. I'm frustrated so I decide to pull my ipod out of my pocket. Guess what I find?
My pen.
The meeting didn't go as I had hoped but I did get some points across.
I don't have time to type it all out right now but long story short, there is no increase in normal hours but she is going to help on the renovation team for a few months and that will give her close to 30 hours a week so that will at least help.
The manager seemed pretty genuine to me. I didn't get the feeling I was being lied to... although he danced around a couple of questions and I had to raise my voice a bit to get the focus back but I didn't get any bad vibes from him. I'm not entirely sure about the asst manager and I can't say that I trust her entirely but I didn't spend much time focusing on her.
Manager said we can always chat if more questions come up and stuff so that is good. All in all, Oldest needs to find a better job. This one is not good. Unfortunately, finding a job right now is not an easy task.
